If you want to be successful at fishing for bass, it’s important to know bass fishing techniques. While it looks pretty easy to the outsider, bass fishing is a strategic thing. Just ask my dad!

He gets all dressed up like he’s going to war, selects his weapons, and of course, chooses the perfect bait. I am quite sure that he is devising plans to defeat the bass fish enemies! But above all else, he believes that mastering the basics of bass fishing techniques comes first.

Casting is one of the most important things to learn. According to my dad, you shouldn’t have to think about it. This means when you’re in the water, you won’t be distracted by your casting technique.

You get the best results with the smoothest, quietest cast possible. Bass fish like quiet areas, so if you can use a smooth cast to sneak up on them, you’re off to a great start.

My dad also uses technology to help him fish, too. He discovers where the fish are all hiding out when he uses a radar. Bass fishing techniques like this are really helpful. Bass fish are good at hiding, and knowing where the fish are is one of the keys. They like to lurk around fallen trees or rocky areas. In these areas, there are likely to be a good bit of bass fish.

This means that you catch more. Before, I didn’t know fishing could be so involved. And we used to think we would just take a snooze in the boat. This guy really takes fishing seriously, though. You just wait, he’ll be having us salute him the next time he heads out!

So, my uncle and I have this ongoing family feud. You should see him! When he catches more fish than me, he struts around for a week straight and reminds me about it every time he sees me. And then he asks over and over, “So, how many fish have you caught lately?”

According to him, plastic worms are the best when it comes to bass fishing lures. I reckon he knows what he’s talking about, most of the time. He’s proven it more than once, after all. When I’m sitting around with my bucket empty, and he’s hauling in a monstrous bass, I could just push him overboard.

However, on our last trip to catch bass fish, I definitely out-fished him. He was scowling at me the whole time I was pulling in fish after fish after fish!

This is how I did it. For my bass fishing lures, I chose crankbait. Bass fish like them because they’re like tender steaks, and they look somewhat like crayfish or baitfish. Since they do well in most kinds of water, these are great fishing lures to add to your repertoire.

I also keep spinnerbaits as a supplement. These little guys look like baitfish, and they are great for catching bass quickly, and catching larger ones. They are versatile in that they do well in most waters, and they come in assorted colors.

I pulled in so much bass that day, we had more than enough to eat like kings that evening and still have some left over for breakfast. I tried to cheer up my uncle by suggesting that he could have his fish as the appetizer. I’m starting to get good at this fishing thing. All I have to do now is get my own big fish story about ‘the one that got away’!
